What Is A Professional Corporation (P.C.)
Professional service corporations are corporations in which shareholders must be licensed professionals. Licensed professionals are persons legally authorized to render a professional service. For example, professional service corporations may be formed by public accountants, doctors, dentists, veterinarians, architects, professional engineers, land surveyors, and attorneys at law. Shareholders of the corporation must be licensed in the professional service that the corporation provides. A professional service corporation may not engage in any business other than the rendering of the professional services for which it was specifically incorporated. Profit corporations providing services in a ìlearned professionî may only form as professional service corporations.
